Supporting the next generation of Bunge talent

The future of agriculture was on full display at the 99th annual National Future Farmers of America (FFA) convention, where students from across the country came together to take part in projects, competitions, tours, and more.

FFA is a nonprofit career and technical student organization that promotes and supports agricultural education through hands-on experiences. It is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.

As part of our focus on emerging talent, Bunge was pleased to once again sponsor the FFA convention and directly engage with students throughout the event. Bunge employees contributed their time and expertise through competition judging, panel discussions, networking events, and student showcases.

Shahid Najmi, Global Talent Management Lead and FFA Sponsors Board Member, said the experience left a lasting impression. “I came to the FFA Convention expecting to meet the next generation of agricultural leaders, but I walked away inspired by the leaders they already are. What struck me most wasn’t just their confidence, competence, or exceptional communication skills. It was their mindset, their curiosity, their willingness to embrace failure as an opportunity to learn and grow. After spending time with these students, I have tremendous confidence that the future of agribusiness is in very capable hands.”

The leadership, confidence, and growth Shahid observed at the convention are reflected in Bunge’s own FFA alumni chapter, including Bunge’s FFA Alumni Chapter President, Maddie Carlyle.
“The National FFA Organization played a defining role in shaping who I am today. It was through FFA that I learned important skills like leadership, public speaking, and how to effectively work in a team,” said Maddie, Government Affair Manager at Bunge. “Beyond skills, FFA opened doors to a network of mentors, peers, and lifelong connections that have remained immensely valuable throughout my life. I am proud to work for a company that sees the importance of investing in future generations of leaders through valuable organizations like FFA.”

Katie Flaschar, Emerging Talent Lead, attended this year’s convention and was also impressed by the bright minds and promising talent that participated.

"The students that participate in FFA have exposure and experience that truly set them apart from their peers,” said Katie. “I’m proud that Bunge continues to support this organization and can’t wait for the impact we can make next year!"

Through its sponsorship and employee involvement, Bunge remains committed to helping develop the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of agriculture.
