Australian Farmers Begin Harvest Deliveries to Bunge Facilities

The 2026/27 harvest is under way in Australia, as farmers are delivering barley, wheat, field peas, faba beans and canola to Bunge locations across southern Australia.

Bunge received its first delivery in late September. To date, farmers have delivered more than 600,000 tonnes of crops to Bunge facilities, once the season is complete we expect to receive around 10 million tonnes into our network.

Bunge loaded the first vessel of the season from our South Australian network this week, with more than 24,000 tonnes of wheat leaving the port of Thevenard for the Philippines.

“It's a positive start to the season for farmers to see grain leaving our network so early,” said Gavin Cavanagh, Bunge director of industrial management Australia. “Loading the first vessel is a significant milestone and a credit to farmers and Bunge employees who have worked hard across the network to get us to this point. We are also thankful for our transport and carrier partners, who will continue moving grain through the network to port throughout the season.”

Along with Thevenard, we have six more port terminals in Australia: Port Lincoln, Wallaroo, Port Giles, Outer Harbor and Inner Harbour in South Australia and Bunbury in Western Australia. Shipping has commenced at most of the ports with the final few to begin soon.

The ports are part of our wider network of around 60 storage and handling sites across Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria. Most farmers deliver their cereals, oilseeds and pulses to sites like ours during harvest, rather than storing them on farm.

We store and maintain the grain quality on their behalf until we outturn it for customers. From our sites, we move grain by truck or train to domestic markets or to one of our seven export terminals, where it is loaded onto vessels bound for customers around the world.

We also buy direct from farmers as one of Australia’s largest buyers and exporters of agricultural commodities.  Australian farmers will continue to harvest through February 2027.
